Feeling Chapped?

Summertime is a time for us to reconnect with nature. We spend 99.9% of our time outside in the summer months enjoying the beautiful weather...
---We bake in the sun.
---Swim in the lakes and pools.
---Maybe work up some sweat after a long run?
Something all those things have in common is that it can cause irritation to our skin....
--Chapped lips...?
---Peeling skin....?
---Dry skin....?
No one likes dealing with any of those BUT it happens to us all!
I am here to tell you, THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS MADNESS.....with this homemade remedy containing ingredients you already have in your kitchen which makes your "beauty budget" less scarce.

BROWN SUGAR SCRUB
(Brown sugar is one of the best natural exfoliants that work for all types of skin.)

Ingredients:
* 1 tablespoon brown sugar
*1 tsp ( more or less ) of olive oil or coconut oil

Preparation:
Put the brown sugar in  your palm. Add the olive or coconut oil. Stir the ingredients in your palm with your finger creating a thick paste consistency. Massage (gently) onto face in circular motion. Rinse off with warm water. Press a warm washcloth onto face. Apply your desired moisturizer.

This recipe is also wonderful for chapped lips..... go thru the same preparation except instead of applying to the face, apply directly onto the lips. ENJOY!

Eat your way to BEAUTIFUL

Certain foods actually can help achieve the look you are aiming for just by simply having a regular dose of them. It is important to eat healthy not necessarily diet to the point of starvation but the less fast food the better. You are what you eat.... So your body will glow if you eat things that will only improve your body rather than a greasy cheeseburger which will just drag your body down...

Here are some fun facts about the foods that you can eat to achieve a certain "look":

BANISH THOSE BREAKOUTS-- Studies show that pumpkin seeds actually help get rid of acne. Most people that suffer from acne are zinc-deficient so if you aim for one to two tablespoons of zinc a day it could actually help with your acne.
MAKE YOUR EYES POP-- Spinach contains a lot of lutein which is the key to protecting you eyes. It also helps them appear brighter and even whiter. If you have one to two cups of spinach a day it could help with your eyes.
A BRIGHTER SMILE-- A apple day will not only keep the doctor away but also keep your teeth brighter. Studies show that by crunching on an apple it actually buffs out the stains or any discoloration on your pearly whites to give them a brighter, whiter look.

5 EASY Makeup Tricks to keep your skin looking fresh and younger.

The #1 rule to beautiful skin is beyond the makeup aspect.....It goes back to the cleansing and moisturizing of your skin...You have to take care of your skin...wear sunscreen...wash your face every night and most importantly keep it moisturized.

Heres a few tip to achieve a "youthful" look with your daily makeup application....

1.) The less the makeup the better you will look....If you have dark circles under your eyes or sun spots that you are trying to conceal. DO NOT cake on the concealer....simply dap a tiny dot on the area needing correction.
2.) Lighten up. Use a tinted moisturized or a lightweight liquid foundation.. (especially in the summertime.) Let your skin breathe.
3.) Open up your eyes. Curl your lashes...and use a little shimmery eyeshadow to highlight your brow bone and corners of your eyes. It will help make your eyes appear larger and young.
4.) Warm it up. A neutral rose color being applied to anyones lips give a brightened, natural glow. Adding the same color to your cheekbones can be really flattering as well.
5.) Give a little lip. Stop using all those bright colors that you used to wear when you were in high school. A natural lip liner or even a clear lip liner to give you lips a little plump look to them..but ALWAYS stay natural.

WHAT A STORM.

Hope everyone is safe from all the nonsense that has been happening lately with that storm that came through the area yesterday.
I literally woke up to the wind outside yesterday. I looked out  my window and it looked like we were literally in a car wash... All I could see was branches from trees flying in all different directions... I grabbed Bosley, my puppy and headed to the basement...
What a storm.... We have been out of power for two days.... I know most of you are still out of power....
Today we finally have some power but [no toilets and no water]....
Yesterday we were straight roughing it...Our bathrooms became personal porta-pottys....Out here in Wadsworth when we lose our power we lose everything... So we are only allowed ONE FLUSH...and believe you want to save that flush. We had no water as I said so we went to our grocery store trying to stock up.. [CLOSED due to no power]... Thankfully Target was open... we went there and shopped in the dark for water and snacks... They didn't have power but their registers still worked.. Didn't make sense but whatever it works for me!  We have been using our cars as a source of electricity to charge our phones and other devises....Also for the sake of air conditioning...Yesterday we drove around just to sit in the cold car and charge our phones..... A conversation my mom & i shared: Me: I cant feel my legs but I don't want to turn the air off because I know its going to be hot at the house..Its almost like I want to suffer so that I can take advantage of having the air now..Because I know later we wont. Mom: I know thats exactly what I am doing... I am freezing but I know as soon as we get out of the car ill be sweating....The entire family had a slumber party in the basement last night because that was the coldest part of the house...Not sure any of us slept very good...we were restless and it was still pretty warm towards the end of the night even in the basement....Woke up this morning... with my fingers crossed that Mcdonalds was still serving breakfast and at least even open today... IT WAS.....Coffee and egg mcmuffin in my tummy.......To say the very least it has been very interesting....
